Think Recycling is one of the best - you can send them all of them and they will dispose of the ones they do not use. They give bonus if their website is posted on your site. You get extra funds if you ship in your own boxes. They send you postcards to send home with all the kids. We started at the beginning of last year with them and had great success. They also plant a tree for every so many that you send it. I would highly recommend it. If you try them, please state that South Edmonson Elementary, Smiths Grove, KY sent you to them.

We use Cartridges for Kids. Almost stopped doing this at the end of last year; however, CFK's upped their program a lot; they now take cell phones, pda's, digital cameras, dvd's, video games. Very little money for it, but if someone was going to toss it anyway .... We are having our Student Council run this; it is made of 6-8th graders, and an advisor, that way we do not have to retrain someone every year to do it. They can use funds for what they need, and also give funds to classes, depending on what they make, or sponsor a dance. Also we encourage them to give to less forunate. Cartridges For Kids will give you $50 a year as a "bonus" if you run a 4-6 week program (you collect all year but put the push on then). They also have rewards, and lots of other promo items.

I am going to try Think recycle. I signed up online and they called me to confirm that afternoon. I am waiting for the package to arrive. They do cell phones and ink. Can't hurt to try, I guess!

Has anyone ever used the eScrip recycling program? I am thinking about giving this a try this year.

I handled all of our pick up and drops and maybe being a small school it wasn't hard at all. I keep a box in my truck and when I picked up my daughter from school I would pick up cartridges from the drop box they provided us and threw them into the box. When it was full or at the end of the month I would ship it in using the shipping labels they provide us. Now they don't do Office Depot cartridges so I might look into Emerald for that reason. But for little to no effort we made a little bit of money and did something good for our environment.

Just wanted to let you know that Staples no longer does this program. Emerald Recycling does though! You get $1.00 for each cartridge (even the Office Depot cartridges) Their # is 1-800-941-9659. The provide small boxes with free shipping and promptly pay for what is sent to them Thanks, Debby Petko
