our playground is horrid, plus the stickers make the parents upset when they get tracked in. The PTO would like to help with this, but just getting started, and little money in the account. It has been pushed to the side as a long term goal. The school district will not allow any type of spraying to be done, and the mowers don't care. How did you get a grant for this, and play ground equipment. I was told playground equipment could only be installed by a licensed playground specialist, and we do not have one in the area. they cost close to the actual cost of the equipment. for example we had a basketball pole that was purchased for 500.00, it is going to cost the school 800.00 to get it installed, as we are a small school, this is not in the budget, so it sits in storage. Any help on grants that would be great, I did not realize PTO could get grants.
Look up Grants for your area-- try Lowe's-- it's done this school year, but start writing a Grant proposal for the Fall and get all the information so your ready to send it in by the deadline-- Also look for Education Grants and Nation Wide Grants-- some are only for Local use-- I would also put a letter together and see some of your local construction companies-- they might sponsor the renovation of the Fall- with acknowledgement of their company with a plaque or free advertising in the local paper-- you might get some great support-- even if it takes a few working together to get the money. Good Luck!
Also check with some local homebuilders and construction companies in your area. They may have supplies they can donate or discount. See how many dads -- and moms, like me -- can volunteer their labor if a Home Depot, Lowes, etc. employee will come show them how to put in the new flooring.
Try an internet search for "physical education grants"
We need a new gym floor too! We got a grant for our playground over the last few years. If anyone has gym or construction type grant advice I'd love to hear it!
We are doing a fundraiser to get new playground equipment. We first started with the kids. Each classroom has a jar and kids can put their change in there. We call it Pennies for Playground. We have done pretty well with that. Second, we formed a committee for this. They are having a used book fair and walk a thon to earn money for this. They are also writing to local companies for donations. I'm sorry I can't help you with a flooring company or a grant though. Hope this helps.
Our school's gym floor is horrible! It's not even wood-it's tile. Does anyone have any suggestion on who might offer a grant to cover this? Do you think it would just be easier to have a dedicated fundraiser for it? Does anyone know of installation companies? Sorry for all the questions.
