PTO not what it should be.

That has been suggested to me several times over the year but I declined. I have told these same parents that they really need to get involved.I don't think anyone really realizes that the pto replaced our pta, they want things back to where everyone had a good time and you could see where all the extra dollars were going. Making up money was fun not just sending a check in for some high priced "Junk" to someone and wondering what was being done with the profits. Thanks for the advise. I will probably leave it to the ones with kids still in school as suggested by pto. I can apply my skills to helping the community in other ways. Thanks a bunch.

Become the PTO President and take some friends along to help run the board. I don't know what to tell you, sounds like they need a shake up.

Well, trying to run events without your PTO executiva board's approval is probably a bad idea.

I would ask about when your election are?

It sounds like you want to become more involved and make a bigger difference. Maybe you can try to run for an open position, and then once in might be able to infuence the direction of the group.

Good luck,
PresidentJim

I want to be able to help our school and community. I have tried working with the pto but it has been a battle to get anything accomplished. I have a cookbook account in my name just waiting on final approval (since Jan.) Letters were sent to the parents to see if they were interested..big response...still no go with pto ...They planned a big fund raiser for the first of April and canceled without notifying me..I sold tickets After it was canceled..and then I spent a day returning money and having stubs signed that I had returned money. Who cancels a big fundraiser 3 weeks into ticket sales with 2 weeks left? and does not tell sellers. Our pto does not work the same as the ones I read about on here. Their idea of an ice cream party..is sitting kids in hall and giving them a pop icicle during snack. Our kids do nothing much for fun...I would like to do something to fill the void left by our pto...I am going to try to find something for earth day...according to the note sent home the pto is through with their work for this year...also the parents that want the cookbook have started sending in recipes... I just need a little advise and guidance from ones who appear to share the same goals that I do....Make our school all it can be with a little fun thrown in...I want to work independently from the pto...for the good of the school...I do have the approval from school personal...

Our school does its own fundraisers sometimes that have nothing to do with pto. You could talk to the principal about orgnaizing something like that. There are so many kinds of fundraisers to choose from. Does your school collect box tops? Our school raises thousands every year with this program and its easy!
