Hot dogs don't need "cooking" they are the best steamed.
Last weekend, I had company with children and I made sloppy joes and hot dogs together. It made a very deligthful coney dog. It was a big hit with children and adults. They had the choise of sloppy joes or hot dog or both...

Make sure they are not frozen. If they are too cold, they take too long to heat.

Microwave, then use the crock to keep warm, if you can.

I would place enough hot dots to line the bottom of a large shallow dish, add enough water to cover.

Micro until hot. It doesn't take that long. Pour everything (water included) into the crock pot.
