Hi everyone. I'm not sure I'm posting this in the proper forum as I actually am in need of more information regarding "an extreme makeover for our school Library"so I do apologize in advance if I've placed it in the inproper forum.
For years we've (the PTO) been discussing revamping our school library. It is old and dingy. It truly is not a very inviting area, so to speak, for parents so I can't imagine the children really enjoying being in there. According to No child Left behind, our district really needs improvement in the area of reading strength so this is the perfect time to lobby for this project.
We don't, however, really know where to even begin. I am forming a committee of parents in an attempt to gather ideas, strategize and develop a proposal to implement the changes. The library needs a complete renovation which, of course, means high dollars.
Has anyone done this before? Any ideas on fundraising? Just looking at the cost of bookcases made me second guess the reality of this.
