Definitely ask the kids to do the shirt slogan and/or graphics. Have a school wide contest where every kid has the opportunity to submit a drawing or just a slogan if that's what you're looking for. Give them very specific paramaters to follow so you don't get things you can't use (like something really long, or a drawing in 15 colors that would cost a fortune to print).
The winner could get a prize from a local retailer, like gamestop or target. Target is willing to give $25 gift cards if they've not ever donated to your school before. Or figure in the cost of prizes in the amount that you are budgeting for the price of the shirts, and make sure your shirt sales can cover the cost of prizes, too. ...or you could get the principal to give the winning student a voucher for one free day of no homework, or lunch at the teacher's table, etc.
If the slogan comes from the student body or a teacher, it's going to mean more to the students and parents than if you & your 3 comm. members just make something up.

This is my first year as president of the PTO. There are only three of us on the broad, so this is all new to me. Every year the PTO design a tshirt to sell to the parents, staff and the kids. I have never done this before, so I'm having a hard time coming up with a saying that will be in the shirt. Our school colors are black, gold and white and our mascot is a eagle. This year our shirts are going to gold. can someone PLEASE help me out. I'm brain dead from thinking so much.
