Hey there. Our school did this just this past spring. We basically set aside one afternoon and one full day for collection. The company that we delt with collects shoes, clothing, hard toys and linen's. They do not shred them, they take them, weigh them, send you a check, and then after they have cleaned them up they send them to countries that need them, such as Poland, Africa, and a few others. We fully checked them out before using them, made phone calls to others who had used them, and had a very positive experience. If you send me your email address, I will send you the information for the company that we used. (By the way, we ae located in NJ)
We were sent a brochure from a group claiming that they would basically pay us for a certain amount of clothing, shoes, belts, etc... by the pound.
They provide the tractor trailer and after they weigh everything, they send us a check.
Unfortunately, the brochure is no longer to be found.
Has anyone else ever heard of this and done it?
Worst case scenario if it can't be done as a fundraiser, we will still do it as a community service, but I still don't know who to contact to set it up.
Please post if you have any information.
We have heard of some companies that will take the clothes and shred them. We definitely don't want that to happen.
