Our elementary kids seem pretty excited about any fundraiser we offer. It's been relatively easy to motivate the young ones to walk. My oldest just started middle school and nobody seems interested in fundraising. It's like the kids and parents are from another planet or a switch is flipped once they leave elementary school.
We're talking about a walk-a-thon for the middle school but it seems to be a conflict as the "feeding" elementary school is doing it. Has anybody here had experience with Dance Revolution in a dance-a-thon. I know the kids will be excited but I'm not sure how it works.
To boost your auction dinner income try getting more corporate sponsors to pay for the costs of the auction. On our auction program we had a BMW dealership put an ad on the back cover, a local dentist on the inside of the front cover, and lots of smaller ads inside. The ads not only paid for the cost of printing the program, we had almost three thousand leftover to add to our auction income.
My son is entering Middle school this year, but I know the school had a calendar raffle last year and they made $9,000.
Purchase a raffle number for $10.00. During three months (Sept/Oct & Nov) raffle numbers are pulled at the main office three days per week. Each day already has a predetermined prize amount. The person with the winning number receives a check for the amount they won.
*Set up costs are for the paper to print the raffle card on.
*Limited ticket sales are sold (I think they sold 1,000)
*Prize money is limited to ensure maximum profit (I think prizes ranged from $50 - $200 & totalled $1,000.00

Have never done an auction, that sounds like a good idea. We used to always go with catalogs but this past year we changed to a discount card which really eased our stress:) . The company did everything for us and they ended up giving us $8 back from every card that sold, which is awesome from what I hear, they also gave away some cool prizes. The card sold for 10 bucks and offered cool discounts on the back from around our school. We ended up raising over $15,000:eek: over two weeks. Could have been more but we didn't think we would sell that many. Kids had a blast and we will definitely order more this year. Just an idea..
What's worked well for us in the past has been cookie dough sales and silent auctions at fall and spring events. But recently, we were getting feedback from many people that they were growing tired of seeing the same thing over and over. A lot of our parents are environmentally conscious and felt that we should be more "thoughtful" in choosing fundraising products/programs that didn't generate wastefulness. So we looked around a bit and found a unique fundraising product that consists of an earth-friendly "Home & Garden Kit".
It included these really cool spray bottles which had homemade recipes for cleaning and gardening printed on the plastic of each bottle. The recipes call for ingredients that most of us already have in our pantries - and are cheap and safe to use (like vinegar and baking soda). The bottles were presented in a really cute cardboard 4-pack case, and included a laminated menu card which offered additional earth-friendly tips and instructions for numerous household chores (like how to remove chocolate from our carpet!). This particular fundraiser generated about $10k (we made $8 profit per sale), but more importantly our audience LOVED everything about it. It promoted Child & Pet Safety, Pollution Prevention, Waste Reduction, etc. etc.
