My sense is that scrip is not a great option for an offering like yours. From the business side, scrip typically works best for purchases that: a) occur with some frequency (gas, grocery stores, pizza..); and b) compete heavily with similar stores (gas, grocery, pizza...).
The concept is simple. Participating retailers sell their gift cards to parent groups (or more often to scrip brokers) at a discount. The scrip broker then sells the cards to parent groups at a lesser discount. And the parent group sells the cards to parents at face value.
Example:
Pizza Hut sells $100 gift card to scrip broker for $90.
Scrip broker sells $100 gift card to parent group for $94.
Parent group sells it to parent for $100.
Parent gets $100 gift card for $100 and spends it like cash. Parent group makes $6 on the sale.
Can you please let me know how the Scrip Program works. I own an Etiquette & Cotillion Business in Southern California and someone told me I should do this Scrip program but I really do not know very much about it. Anyone have any info. THANK YOU!
