We used our PTA bylaws as guidelines for our PTO bylaws when we switched over.
Of course, we removed everything pertaining to the state & national PTAs, we changed term limits (from 2 to 3 years) and we lightened up on the nominations and elections process.
To your specific question -- no, there are no mandated bylaws for PTOs, as PTOs are independent. Your group cna write its own bylaws. There are tons of links to sample bylaws here:
Our PTO Start-Up Kit (forms.ptotoday.com/store/product.html?id=1001
) is a step-by-step guide to getting things going correctly. Included in there is a walk-through of writing bylaws from scratch including our recommendations for best practices.
Are there any prewritten bylaws for PTO's as their are for PTA's. As our PTA is concidering changing to a PTO. Our PTA bylaws run out this year. At what time can a PTA change to a PTO? Any forethought?
