Sorry I'm in Colorado but we are a k-12 school and our PTO has become more of a sponsor if you will for the HS Student Council. During the holidays they do a food drive which helps our Gift Drive for several of our families in the school that need a little help. The PTO also has helped with funds for Prom when their fundraising efforts were poor and I think our best team effort was the new flag pole and flag the two groups worked together to purchase for our new building! Everytime I see it I smile knowing we worked together!
We do offer volunteers for After Prom, Field Day, Alive at 25, Health Fair and Career Day (that one was before me!).
My oldest will begin high school next year but I am so happy to have been able to help an get to know the HS staff already-- not an easy feat with two still at home!
We are currently in the process of transitioning from a PTSA at the High School, to a PTO. I'm wondering if there's other High School's in California that have done so, and if they are operating as a "club" of the High School. If so, I'd love to hear from you, to see how it's going, and get any ideas that might help.
