I also am a newly elected president of our school's PTO. I do have copies of bylaws/conduct available. If you are further interested in this information, please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. I know what you're going through and I'd be happy to scan and send you what I have. I am fairly new to this area, and luckily we have chairmen for several different areas, including a fundraising chairman that really has her things together. I would be happy to drop you information on what things that we have found successful. Last year alone the school asked the PTO for an estimated 15K and we ended the year with an addition 6K. Our enrollment is about 600 students K-6 grades. I don't know how "parallel" you find yourself to my situation, but I would be glad to be a resource for you.
I have just been elected as pres. elect for our Parent Advisory Board. With this buzzing through my head, I was informed by my school principal that our county has decided that all schools will have a PTO format and our current PAB does not fit the description as is. We are having to disolve as an Incorporation and I would like to file for 501(C) status as we are reorganizing. That I can handle, I am at a loss for bylaws, constitutions and parent code of conducts. I am also wading into the depths with fees or not fees. Can anyone direct a newbie member and elected offical in the right direction? I really want to this to go well, especially since the former principal actually disolved our PTO for some reason and began the PAB as a closed group several years ago. (My understanding was by invite only.) We are going to have some major obsticals in our way. We have been making the attempt at revamping out reputation, and now with our name changing, i would like to make this as smooth as possible. I also need to know what the rule of thumb is for officals that were elected in May for the PAB staying in their elected seats. Do we really need to revote school wide for the first year? See, I have a lot of questions. You can email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you can help.
