Ours dates back to 1968 so it's an "oldie" we call it "PAFA" pronounced Pa (like in Grandpa) and Fa (like in Fa la la la la from the christmas song). It stands for Parents and Faculty Association. Our school is El Centro Elementary School so they combined the two together an incorpated as "El Centro Parents and Faculty Association" AKA PAFA.
No matter what you pick I wish you success with the name change!
The parent organization at our middle school is currently named "CHAMPS" (Committed to Honoring And Motivating Parents and Students). Since the group was founded 6 years ago, it has gotten a bad image due to some personality conflicts. We would like to change our image, so one thing we are considering is a name change. The local elementaries have PTOs. I've seen other acronyms in discussion forum postings, but I don't know what each stands for. Any suggestions for a name that would be short & sweet but sum up what our organization is about? Members of the organization include parents, teachers, and staff; most activities are ones that benefit the student body. Thanks!
