What was it about PTA that those people liked so much? maybe you could do some of those things. When we changed we made sure to have a school art contest (which is now townwide) because some meners really liked the Reflections program. We also host a candidate's night for school board every two years and we send a PTOrep to every school board meeting. The people who thought we were just going to be fundraisers were wrong.
When we did it there was only one thing to do to make things right: we just had to keep doing the good stuff we always did. Pretty soon everyone realized that it was the same great group just with a different name. It's been two years and I honestly think everything is as good or better now and we're not wasting the $700 something dollars that we were sending to PTA in our last year. Good luck to you.
Our school voted to return to a PTO status after being a PTA for quite some time- it took two years of many long discussions and some people were not happy- any suggestions as to how we can open up the school year and "mend" broken fences easily? thanks for any help
