I'm not sure who you're talking about - are you talking about your school PTO president? There's no national PTO organization, so there's no national president.
As for the PTA not "ripping" PTOs, I think quite the opposite is true. PTA often puts down PTOs. But you're right, the point is we're helping the kids. And that may include going to a national PTA convention to see what other groups are doing.

Did you know that the PTO President was reportedly at the National PTA convention last week trying to recruit members? As a PTO member I found this very disturbing. How do I know it happened a very good friend of mine was at that convention and he gave her his card. I am upset about this, why would PTO stoop so low. I have never heard PTA rip on PTO's. But continually hear the opposite of PTO. This made me wonder what have I gotten into to. I do not want my president to be sitting in their meeting taking notes. Why are we trying to copy them anyways. I thought they were the bad guys, maybe I was wrong. This all boils down to money, how a few dues are distributed. I am disturbed and will be rethinking my PTO membership. To have a leading member of thes organization going behind peoples backs to recruit members right out of a PTA convention is a desperate way to up membership. I find it hard to believe that Ginny Markel would ever do this. How sad! It is all about the children right? Not the money!
