PTG VS PTO

I am a President of PTA and am very interested how you define PTA that we pay due's. It is about 4 to 5 dollar's for a
year and it include's a month newsletter.
I am so disappointed in our PTA and PTO in
our community. The PTO slam's the PTA and the
PTA is being pushed out by the school district because of PTO. One of our principle's read your article about a mistake
at a conference which by the way is out dated
and cut down our past president in front of
all the PTO member's then she was told they
would not accept PTA in their school.
This PTO is getting money from the school which is the tax's payer's money and they
have told support of the district.
Yet PTA is not supported and is being pushed
out. This is so sad how great it would be if
both would support each other for the kids
sake. After all isn't that why we do this???
I vow to work with PTO and support you in any
way we can thru donation and support if your
parent's have school related problem's that
need law's or other support's. We work with
the governor's and legislator's and issue's
that can change a school to be a place where
parent's can be heard and involved in making
choice's that affect kids. We are now in the
process of working on Standardize testing in
4th,8th, 10th and 12th grade's. Your support
in getting the parents involved with this
law that the state's are passing is great we
need to make sure the kids are learning to learn not learning to pass a test. Thank you
for understanding that PTA is no better than
PTO. And that together we could move mountain's. Hope to hear from you.
Sincerely,
AnnetteM

Hi-

In general, all of the different acronyms except PTA are equivalent. They are names used by groups that are independent. Those groups don't belong to, pay dues to or receive any benefits from a wider organization.

As far as you rules and reg's,any independent group is free to write it's own bylaws (within the law), so you cna make calls like terms limits on your own.

All the best -
