I just wanted to say that works both ways. Parents who want to move from a PTA to a PTO encounter resistance to change as well.
I sincerely hope you are joking about the death threats!! If not, how scary for you!

I am so glad the article came out, especially this time of year when school is just starting. I represent a school that is in the Palm Springs Unified School District and there is maybe (1) school that is a PTA within the (3) school districts in out area. Our school just voted to be a PTA, now we are raising funds for the dues.
I tried to introduce the PTA to a elementary school a few years ago and got some news coverage, even the front page. But I also got death threats that included my children if I didn't back off trying to get a PTA going. The school principal didn't offer to help protect my children or myself and I eventually reported it to the authorities.
