Thank you. He does want to talk about it, which is a great thing. I was just wondering if he tries to make us does he have that authority or are we independent of the school system
Hi there!
No one should be able to just "switch" you!
Having said that, if the superintendent wants to explore the topic, we'd say it's a good idea to be open to hearing what he/she has to say. There are many good reasons to stay a PTO, but there are plenty of groups that are organized as PTAs and would share that there are many good reasons for them to stay PTA.
If there is a discussion, it should involve members of your group and there really should be solid reasons put forth why it would be worth making a change. Plus, the membership should be able to vote on this.
Hi all, I am the President of our PTO at my kids school. My question is this- Our superintendent wants to talk about switching from PTO to PTA, does he have the right to switch us? Being a PTO has worked well for us, I have not heard anything good about PTAs, I hear the dues are more, you are more regulated, etc. Is this true? We only charge $1 per person to be a member and that is it. I think he wants to switch because other PTOs in our district may not be following their bylaws and doing what they are supposed to, my feeling is that it isn't fair to make all of us switch just because one is not doing what they should. Thoughts?
