Vodka in bottles! Geez, hopefully with the new airport restrictions that will rule the liquids out entirely.

i'm thinking about name badges if you don't go with the colored shirts. you could give them lanyards and the plastic pockets to attach and put all the info possible in there--their chaperone, phone number, hotel name and phone number, etc.... that way nothing gets lost from pockets, etc.

i like the groups of 3. Especially if it is boys and girls going!

Also don't forget medication forms, for things like asprin, asthma, etc.

Don't forget your tylenol, midol, etc

on our senior trip, we put vodka in hair spray bottles.....wow! i can't believe I am telling that.

Just a thought. IF all the kids have cell phones - don't just give them a list of everyone elses numbers. Make them put everyones numbers into their phones right then and there (trust me - deleating them later is a breeze). That way they can't "loose" the numbers and you will also have everyones in your phone.

Also, make sure to have all bring a phone charger - nothing stinks worse then to get away and realize you forgot your charger!

Great tips, thanks!

I always wore something bright when I was a field trip chaperone. I forgot about that!

I'm a seasoned traveler and know how to pack light. I also pack healthy snacks, as the hotels really scalp you on the vending machine food, and the snacks come in handy if you need a "little something".

For the very small...consider a school tshirt for everyone to wear that id's their school. Have a bunch of wet ones with you and a couple of plastic bags for car sickness. The teacher should have contact information and a list of all children attending. I even went so far as to tuck a small paper in the pockets of the little ones I escorted that had the schools name and number just in case.
Good luck...d

One of our very strict rules in church youth group outings is that everyone is grouped in sets of THREE. Anytime you leave the main group - free time, restroom, eating, whatever - it must be in a group of 3 people.

No one by themselves, no couples.

I'm also big on color coding. If you are in a big place like an amusement park, having them all wear the same brightly colored T-shirt really helps.

I think communication is easier with cell phones now. Be sure to have a list of everyone's phones. Make sure everyone has a phone number to CALL (whether they have a phone or not) if they have a problem or get lost.

Have fun!
