At our school they are done a little differently. A letter goes out asking if anyone is interested in an officer position or a chaiperson position. Each of the positions are listed with brief details. The parent returns the form back. We contact them to come to the elections meeting. THis is where we vote on each position.
If more than one person is intertesed which doesnt usually happen we just vote by ballot.

<br>"People have the right to be stupid, but some abuse the privelege."
Here is what we do and it works really well for us. Everyone is sent home a nomination form in which they can nominate anyone they want for the various board positions.
We have one woman who is not a board member who serves as the nomination committee. She then phones anyone who has been nominated to ask them if they decline or accept the postion. She then reports at the following PTO meeting on who has accepted.
At the next meeting we hold elections. She types up a ballot that contains all the people running next to each position. Everyone in attendance gets a ballot and votes. Our principal then sits with this person and counts the ballots and reports on who won what position. Our principal then holds on to all the ballots in his office for the next 24 hours and anyone whom would like to is free to go look at the ballots within the next 24 hours. This is a great way to keep everyone honest and it lets people know that the vote was fair and rigged in any way.
This is my first year as PTO president. Every year I have been in PTO as another member, our elections have been different. Does anyone have any sound and fair election ballots or formats that you use. HELP!
