When my kids where younger we had a luau for the entire school. Parents donated the hot dogs and fresh fruit. Each child received a lei, the kindergarten had "grass skirts" made out out of crepe paper and everyone played outside all day. My husband and some other dads manned the grills. It was a great day. My son is 23 and still remembers it.
Our school has a fun day. We supply the dunk tank, the teachers and principal supply themselves for the dunk tank, and we plan water games, and some fun outdoor activities. The kids love it.
Hi, We have a great dad in our school who is also a DJ. He has offered his services for the whole day. We're having a dance for the pre-k through grade 1 from 1:45-2:30 on the second to last day of school and then one right after school for the older kids (though the little ones can come again if they want to). There will be a small charge for snacks to eat, but nothing too fancy. Hope this helps. We also do a roller skating night for all the families. It's not a fundraiser at all, just a way for the family to do something together.
The teachers do things and the PE teacher organizes a field day. We tried to have something last year, but it was poorly attended. By the time we get into May, there is baseball and soccer going and people just don't seem to want to come to school for stuff.
Everyone's responses gets me thinking that maybe we can come up with an idea to go along with the field day event to make it even more fun. Hmmmm......
Oh in public WITH the others?????
We host a huge BBQ for the staff but the teachers all have their thing they do for the kids and we usually help in someway with everyone's events.
