Don't even go there on this, try to stay focused on what is important. I have a husband on the school board and there have been times that I had comments said to me because of contract issues, truth is all you can do is stay focused. The contract issues don't belong at the pto table, yes I am sure that you all have your believes but there are times that things are not so cut and dry... no matter what ANYONE says.
I feel that the contract issue is between the teachers & the district. Try to keep it out of pto. If a walk out does happen...remain focused on your pto & try to keep things positive. Let the teachers know that whatever money you alloted them will be there for them to use again when the walk-out is over. Try to carry on as usual. It will be hard on the kids & parents need to put aside their feelings & differences & put the kids first. Keep positive. Good luck & I hope the teachers & district reach a compromise.
Our teachers and the District are currently involved in a disputed contract negotiations. Currently, many of the teachers are insisting on "working to the contract" only. I have have heard rumblings from parents who not happy with this change in attitude.
We are all supposed to be part of the same team...I can feel that if there is a walkout, a split in the parents group could take place. Any advice?
