Our school district recently brought in a program called Project 7th Grade that was wonderful and really got parents involved. I know they are targeted at middle school and not sure what grades are you targeting but they will also go to lower grades I believe as they message we completely about prevention. You can check them out at www.project7thgrade.org
if you are interested.
We can do it either on a parent or child level. Our parent organization finds speakers to speak with the parents on whatever subjects the group wants as a whole. You could try your city's Health and Wellness Department for adults and Dare for children.
Not sure what type of involvement you mean but each year we (and many others on these boards) support DARE which is a drug and alcohol awareness week. We, the PTO, pay for the t-shirts given to the 5th graders. It is a great way to raise awareness but always fun when you have a beer and the children start questioning your judgement ....dianna
work within your school district with drug and alcohol awareness? One of our School Board members and I were talking about this message board and she asked if I would post this question. Our School Board is very active on this issue. What is your school district doing and what is making an impact with parents? Thanks
