Hoosiermom,
Our teachers hold bake sales, popcorn sales, candy bar sales, water bottle sales..... If you hold a bake sale outside of school then do it for donations because you can make a decent profit that way. The teachers have gone to Gordon Food Service for the candy bars & water bottles. Good Luck!!!
At our school K-2 we pay only for the buses and its 2 per school year. We put a limit on it right away in the beginning of the year when we started seeing the gas prices go up. The teachers organize them so they know how much they cost. The parents pay the fees to get in and such. We also limited it too becase we have a few teachers at the school that think the PTO should pay for everything.
We also have a local grocery store that has a program that helps schools pay for there field trips. Certain places are on the list and we encourage the teachers to use this also to help us out too. Which we have never had a problem with being there are over 25 places on the list.
We then pay the balance left of what they don't
Goodl Luck

My son's 4th grade class has used their field trip funds for the year, but have several unique opportunities available if they can come up with the funds. What types of fundraising have you had success with on a small class level? We have 28 fourth graders. Any ideas?
Thank you all for your input. I was talking with the school secretary today about this, and found out that we paid for 3 different trips to the same place because the teachers didn't want to go together. *shakes the head here* We definitely have an issue here that needs to be straigtened out.
We budget (PTA) for 2 fieldtrips per classrom each year, plus our local Cal State Univ Northridge is a teacher, performing arts and museum within walking distance.
Plus the school has a partnership with the Getty Art Museum and they budget 1 (plus the walking fieldtrips ie. Firestation, Library and CSUN) fieldtrip per classroom (22)

Our Home and School Club is not allowed to pay for any field trips. This has come down from our school district due to insurance liability. This is also the first year we are not allowed to have parent drivers. Sooo, the parents are asked to pay for the whole trip. We still end up having about 2 a year for most classes.
