We got the day off from school in MD today as well. Our parent group President got the word out to everyone using PTO Manager! Certainly beats a phone chain!
The kids are loving their day off. "Snow Day" must be the most favorite words of any kid in the midwest. In the past, the PTO set up a telephone tree to call all our parents (500 or so) to announce a snowday. With email, website,TV, and radio announcements, we decided to end that service. But...wouldn't you know our principal called me at 5:30 am (PTO Prez) because he just felt like he should be passing the news along to someone! Now the dilemma is what about swim team and gymnastics team practice for today??? they both have their first meets tomorrow. Stay warm!
It looks like rain here. I am told it is sleet and I don't want to stick out my head to see for sure. Some of the college campuses are closed already, but not mine. I am not driving in ice and snow through 50 miles of country roads to get there though.
Kids went to eat breakfast with Grandpa. I guess they decided to stay for lunch! My nine year old is beside himself. He whined all weekend because there was still two weeks left before break. Now that he got his Santa Shop shopping done he could care less if they went back. LOL! Funny what things will motivate children now days.
We had a snow day on Tues. Kids drive me nuts. But on the other hand my 12 yr. old didn't have to miss school since he had an ingrown toe nail removed Mon. after school & was to stay home On Tue. We've been in lake effect snow warnings & advisories off & on for a week. Yuk!!!!
We're getting hit too. The problem is it didn't really start snowing until right when school was getting ready to start so we'll probably get an early dismissal and have to drive through the treacherous conditions to pick up our kids, plus the poor bus drivers trying to get everyone home quickly and safely.
