puting together a School newsletter

17 years 1 week ago #139089 by Teachermomto3
I use Microsoft Publisher to do our newsletter-it is very user friendly and has a lot of great features, including a link for creating a website that will tkae some of your newsletter stuff. I can crank out our 4 page newsletter in about an hour using this program ( provided of course, that everyone who wants to contribute gets their stuff to me on time ;) ); what takes longer is getting it printed and out to teachers to send home. I have now done 3 so far, and have learned a little more each time.
Good luck with yours!

We shoppe and create our own kits. It is a bit of work but usually nets us close to 1500 dollars. Parents love the ease of it (especially those of us with 4 children) and 2 ladies get it done during the summer and seem to work fine. We use Walmart primarily and then get bags donated from stores. The bags are placed on the seats of the children during orientation.

If you are talking about beginning of the year supply kits, staples office supply approached me last year about their program Back to school with SchoolKidz.com - Our prepackaged school supply kits, student body backpacks and bookwrapz will make school shopping hassle free . .

I elected not to pursue anything with them based on feedback from my daughter who said that most kids want to pick out their own folders, and feedback from teachers that most people would rather go shopping at Walmart.

They do tend to have good prices and offer this as a fundraising option to PTOs or schools and provide an option to get a limited amount of supplies at a steep discount for those that cannot afford it.

The down side is you have to make up your mind, sign a contract in early spring, and order before school is out for the next year. This means you need uniform supplies lists defined before end of the year teacher tunrover occurs.

This might be easier in private schools which requires uniformity, or in areas where people don't live from paycheck to paycheck, and have little time or availability to shopping.

I hope this works for you, it was just an uphill battle for me, not worth fighting.

What is the "supply kit sale"?

As far as the newsletter, what are you looking at updating as compared to what you presently have?
