Millages - Need ideas on how PTO's can help

We got a bond issue and a tax increase passed last fall, it's tough!

Lots of High School kids were on board. There were some on the advertising committee working right along side Teachers, parents and community leaders.

Students went thru neighorhoods passing our flyers, door to door.

Students who worked for a Pizza Delivery service got the owner to allow them to attach a flyer to the top of every pizza delivered.

Students ran informational booths in public places, attended public meetings such as Lions, Rotary, etc.

Students worked BBQ's along side committee memebers, these BBQ's were put on basically at cost, break even, so that we could get people to come to us for food and talk to them about the isses.

Students visted old folks in their homes (along with adults) to get prevoting or pre registration and to talk to them about the impact and need of these issues.

Students talked to friend's parents and it was very much a grass roots effort. Former STudents still in the area, or at a local college, were contacted by current students asking for their vote... students have energy, give them guideance and watch out!

Also, any ideas on how we can involve the community and (possibly) high school students old enough to vote?

We are having a millage election in February, and it is IMPERATIVE that it pass. This millage, most of which is a renewal, accounts for almost a quarter of our overall budget. If every parent of every student votes yes, then it will pass. Of course, we are not holding our breath on that one! But we would like to get as many parents to the polls as possible. Your ideas/suggestions on how PTO's can help?
