Our high school dissolved it's PTA because of lack of officers. The school clubs and booster clubs do most everything anyways. What is lacking from the school that you are looking for? My understanding from friends is that high school is a time that the kids take charge. You might also find that many of the parents are involved in the school, but they're involved in the booster clubs, supporting the different teams, etc. The PTA can dissolve if it's really not supported or needed. Check your by-laws, and good luck.

Do you want members or to do activities? Membership is seldom indicative of participation. Plan something and ask for volunteers. Those booster club parents will help. It is in their nature. Just be specific.

You will be disappointed if you gauge your success by attendence. Parents are very busy and sometimes just don't have time for meetings.

OMG!!! Went to the high school and there is practically no PTA. The officers have abandoned the job and put it all on one person. She just told me that her membership is about 35. She has a hard time b/c the booster clubs are their own entity and are not a part of PTA so no one joins pta. can u believe that. Well if no one steps up, does the pta dissolve? what happens? She can't even sponsor a dance b/c it's reserved for one of the booster clubs. INSANE... I told her that I would help her, but i'm on board at 2 other schools. What can we do to try to bring in members?? SUGGESTIONS PLEEEEZZZE!!!
