Unfortunately many people are just against change.
They like to do things the way they have always been done.
I certainly have no idea how you presented your ideas to some, but it certainly is wise to think about how you say what you say (we all know that it many cases it is not what you say, but how you say it) and I think your already ahead of the game since you know that you won't please everyone.
The best advice I can give you is just to discuss these things at your PTO meetings. Throw them out there and let everyone kick them around. Are there valid reasons and concerns against doing certain things? Let the pros & cons be batted around by everyone at a meeting.
In my past experience I have found that many times the active members of the PTO can be more supportive and willing then the board members.
I am the newly elected PTO pres for this coming school year and I am starting to get nervous! I need advice on how to bring up new ideas without offending anyone. I mean, I know you cannot please everyone but some of my ideas have already put people on the offensive. I am working on the way I say things but I still need some advice. Everyone is so touchy! Also, I need some PTO bulletin board ideas. Thanks for your replies!
