I highly recommend the program we have used for 3 years now. It is called C.H.I.P. , for child i.d. program. Ours is based in Tampa, Fl. but they have national outlets. the web site i have is 4childid.com. Their cards are not just laminated cards, but are like a credit card. They carry the child's vital info, date of birth, hair color,ettc. as well as phone number. You can get card for parent, one for child to keep ENCLOSED in backpack, a cd rom to make yur own and child's fingerprint is on card. The company only keeps info on file for 30 days (in case of error on card), then destroys info, so no database that parents need to worry is being kept. I have helped implement it each year. It is done quickly and easily. The cost is low, $6 one card, $10 for 4 cards, more if yu want the cd rom. Our pto also sponsors some at risk kids who might not be able to afford to do it.
