Guess this is my day. Need to get another rant off my chest and i promise to stop and be nice. Hard to find people other than here who will care and listen. The Point:
PTA sponsors annual dinner for staff. Our Pres. was SUPPOSED to be in charge, as is the case each year, i did year before, with help I asked for and got. Well she called the caterers and that was it. Never checked w/school on confirming # of ppl coming, if we had any decorating ideas, if cake ordered, anthing. She insisted we could not reserve a park shelter which meant ppl had to go and "hold" tables. As day approached everyone kept coming to me. I could not refer them to her 'cause no one could get in touch w/her. So I reserved shelter, got another member to order/pick up cake. Got Asst. Principal to get decorations and staff to decorate on day of party on school time, as i had to attend ceremony for my child at same time. when I got to the party to help, she WAS already there....but she was at the wrong shelter, no one else there but her. If she had spoken to anyone she would have known where it would be. When she got to right one, it was completely decorated, so she put snacks in bowls on tables and that was it. She even brought her boyfriend w/her to eat. Caterers came and I had to ask her to tell them where to set up. She just sat w/boyfriend and ate, not greeting anyone at all. Then she left without saying a word, before they were to be paid. Treas. had checkbook, but she had our tax exempt cert. which caterer needed for our discount and tax break. I had brought spare copy in my car to be on safe side, good thing. I stayed to help finish up, being late for a personal birthday party. I was basket case when i got home. Talking to her has done no good all year, so we did not even try. Just glad it is end of year. It was not me doing all of this by the way, don't want to give impression i was, lots of board members and staff pitched in to fill the void, but it is frustrating and just need to clear my mind, which is now EMPTY!!! As Dan Quale aptly put it "it's a terrible thing to loose one's mind"!
