My intention is to celebrate them all at once. I wanted to do the research to show the board. I have tried to talk to the current Pres and it hasn't sunk in. I thought if I had a list she might finally get my drift.
I think that unless you are an employee of Hallmark, it doesn't really matter. Most of my units include all staff in the "Teacher Appreciation Week" and some do it in different months, different weeks etc.
All staff gets recognized with gifts and it is also much less work for the volunteers. While working for your school, your PTA/PTO has enough days to work on programs for the parents/students, activities, fundraisers. Why not just combine them once and for all and be done with it?
As the Activities Director for our parent club I am responsible for Teacher Appreciation week. I always include the entire staff in the luncheon but only get gifts for the teachers. The old Activities Director was getting the gifts for secretaries day but is no longer able. The president was responsible for Principals day but forgot. So our track record is poor. We are thinking of just picking a random day and celebrating everyone.
My real question is this:
When are ALL of the school related appreciation and educational days??
This what I kind of know so far:
March 5 - Principals day (1st wed)
April 18-24 - Public School Volunteer Week
April 21 - Secretaries Day
May (1st full week) - Teacher Appreciation Week
- National teacher day is on Tues
- Thank you school librarian is on Wed
May (2nd week) - Salute to Education (our district only)
May 12 - National School Nurse Day
May 16-22 - National Educational Bosses Week
Oct 16 - National Boss Day
Oct 17-23 National SChool bus safety Week
Nov 17-23 - American Education Week
Okay, so which ones are correct? Are they always the same date? Or are they always a certain week or day of the week? Everyone please help so we get this straight once and for all.
