We don't really get pre-tests, but our school has benchmarks. These don't tell whether or not you'll pass the TAKS, rather, it lets teachers and parents know what they need to work on to help pass the TAKS. It's my understanding that passing will be 63 - 65%. It will increase some each year. Last year it was 57 to pass. I just had a fourth grader take the first TAKS test and will have a third grader taking it this year in a few days. Most of the kids really will do ok. And remember -if they don't pass it the first time, they will get two more chances to pass before the next school years starts. Also, if the student is absent, it is an automatic failing grade. We had very few third graders fail it last year. We also had one child who came to school with a 102 temperature (they placed him in another room incase he was contagious). He passed the entired test with a 100! The boy is very smart even with his fevers!
Has anyone in TX has 3rd grader? Has your school taken the pre test to see who will or not pass the test and what was the results for the 3rd grade. Here wasn't that great. Just trying to get info on this. Anyone!
