We tried the surplus stores but they were completly sold out! Much happier to have the one from Washington DC Captiol!

Had to update!!!!
Thursday afternoon the hole for the flag pole was being dug!!! I was a true crazed mom and asked the poor man digging the hole a million questions but he could see I was excited and was happy to answer everyone of them!
Folks, with everything going on in the world right now, I can't wait to have that beautiful flag my great grandpa, grandpa, all 5 uncles, cousins, and Dad fought for flying freely in front of our school.

God Bless America my home sweet home.

A color guard is being put together as we speak! I also have a paper (or 2) on the correct way to care for the flag that I will need to make a copy for the school (I've given several to neighbors after driving by and seeing their new flag still out in the rain! UGH!)
My dad is the reason for this and I suppose having a July 2 birthday helps too. My Dad came home from "Nam" , my husband's dad didn't. All five of my uncles served and came home safely to Grandma...many ddin't. My flag means more to me than I can ever explain to my kids but they are learning when they see their mom frantic to take down our own flag when weather gets questionable.

I was so gitty yesterday at school the other parents were teasing me!! Shoot...I'm always going to be gitty about this!

I get choked up too. How nice that you are treating the flag with the respect it deserves. Are you teaching the students how to fold a flag and handle it? I would love to see our flagpoles lit up at night, since the schools never take their flags down. I have wished for student color guards to be trained to lower and raise the flag each day. Your uplifting message reminds me to discuss the idea with the principal.

Our charter school moved into it's new building September 2001- yeah right after the 11th. Needless to say to order a flag for our building was impossible, as a matter of fact, one company offered to pu us on a FIVE YEAR waiting list! Well, I had the plessure last night of correctly folding our NEW AMERICAN FLAG at last nights PTO meeting!! I cried...yes really. The student council is purchasing a flag pole (between us grow-ups it's about time they did something with their money besides Prom!!)
A VFW color guard will do the honors of raising our new flag and folks, I have goose bumps!!!

now for a Colorado flag....hopefully that won't take nearly two years!!!!

Thanks again fo letting me shout off the highest roof top!!!!!! ;)
