Jepto, if I understand it correctly, "Reflections" is a PTA program designed to encourage artistic endeavors. The way it was explained to me sounded a bit like a artistic version of a science fair.
Students submit works of art in any of the following categories: Literature, Musical, Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
The artwork is displayed and judged at the peer level, and some submissions are selected to move to the next level with the highest being the National PTA.
Maggie, this sounds like a pretty big project and I sympathize with your frustration. We accept drawings for our student directory. The rules are pretty simple:
1) Turn it in by the stated date
2) Work must fit in the rectangle on the form
3) Black and white only - no color
It's amazing to me how many can't follow these simple instructions. What you are running is far more complex. Rant away, at least we can try to be supportive! Good luck!
Maggie, We decided not to start a reflections program because it looked like too much work and none of us on the board felt passionate about it which is what you need to get something like that going. Sounds like you needed the requirements done in flaming letters, on neon paper in 20 point font! Good luck.....only a few months until summer!
I got home today, and there was a 3D entry, I just about had a hissy fit! (here, it very clearly states, "no 3D entries".) I opted not to deal with the program tonight. maggie
hi guys, I won't rant to much but I am the district reflections chair person and it's a total nightmare!!!!! I don't think anyone read their handbook, I have entry forms not signed, not filled out, entries that should not have made it to the next level because they aren't correct (to big), I don't have originals of stuff... all of this is SO clearly stated in the local unit reflections handbook! I want to rip my hair out right about now. I will not be doing this job next year!!!!! (way to frustrating, worse than being pta prez which I also am) Anyway if any of you guys are pta's and participate in the reflections program, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read the handbook!!!!! Ok, I'm done ranting now. thanks for listening. maggie
