We put out a newsletter every six weeks. We always list the upcoming calendar of events. We list the PE and music classes of the month. We also periodically have information on the redemption programs. We have a check list of upcoming volunteer opportunities with space for name and phone number. We promote our school spirit wear. We also put in thank you's to chairpeople and those who volunteered for various events and the outcome of those events. Also if there are classroom or PTA needs we put this in. Example used lightbulbs for second grade holiday craft project, laundry detergent scoops for kindergarten craft. etc. We have a very good feedback on the newsletter. Parents and Staff want to be informed.
We put out two monthly. One before our meeting to let the members know what we are discussing.
THe other is to let members know what happened at the last meeting.
We also have a "teacher's corner". This a corner that tells what special is going on in classrooms for the month teachers to let the parents know hat special thing may be happening in their class for the month.
We also list our patrons that give donations for PTO sponsered events.
Our newsletter contains upcoming PTO events, status updates of upcoming committees (how we're doing on box tops, what is planned for the spring) as well as date of our next general meeting and list of board members as contact people. Pretty generic, I know. Our school puts out a monthly newsletter and we get a page every month - we supply the info in a word document and they send it out along with the school's - we save on copying and on volunteer time in distributing.
Can anyone share some unique newsletter ideas, i have someone that is willing to create a newsletter every month, but is afraid that she won't have enough info every month.
