We give a donation to the school in the amount of $X per student for field trips. The school and the teachers understand that the money cannot be carried over from one year to the next, and that one teacher cannot assign her allotment to another class.
If a "special" teacher were to approach us it would have to be under our mini-grant program and would be considered separately from our field trip donation.
I have a question for all of you who supply busses for your school's field trips.
We have 2 classes per grade in our school and our PTO pays for one bus per class each year (that's 14 busses) for field trips. Since the classes are small enough, the teachers work together and usually take thier field trips together so that each grade gets to go on 2 field trips per year.
However, we were just approached byt one of our Learning Support teachers about supplying a bus for her class. She teaches the kids in grades 1-3 who need a little extra help.
I am torn....Yes it would be nice if her kids could go on a separate field trip. But her kids already go on 2 field trips with their regular classes.
And, I feel if we accomodate her, we are obligated to offer the same for the other Learning Support teacher (for grades 4-6), as well as the Challenge teacher too. (Could it go further to the Chorus teacher, the band teacher, etc?)
So my question is, if you offer topay for field trip busses, do you include your learning support and challenge classes too? Any input would be very welcome! Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!
