Sick Building Syndrome

Not at our school, but at the next school over. They had a very bad mold problem, apparently related to work done a few years back to add air conditioning to a school built around '65.

As it happens, the district closed two schools last year, including the next school over the other direction. Apparently there is a problem at that school also, so they have been busing the students to the other closed school. They hoped to complete the work in time to move back for second semester, but they will end up completing the year at the other facility.

Based on some things I've been reading, mold is a real problem. If people are saying they are fine before reaching school, and being ill at school, and feeling better once they get home -- somebody ought to do an environmental test. Apparently it is fairly quick, easy and cheap to test for mold spores in the air.

Good luck.

Have any of you experienced sick building syndrome at your school? Where alot of students and teachers go home ill for no apparent reason. If you have, can you tell me what you are doing about it?
