I wish we could get some other parents involved enough to run. Win,loose, whatever at least other parents would be involved. That is what I would like my PTO legacy to be.

I am very fortunate. I really like who will be taking my place as president. She has spunk, leadership abilities ( cub scouts, church and girl scouts), and she has thick skin (A must). Her focus and my focus seem to be the same. We want to benefit the kids first and foremost. Although I am about worn out, I am trying to show enthusiasm for her and the group as a whole. I also like the treasurer who will be new to the executive board. We have yet to find a PTA secretary. (Our current one has probably scared them away, see other posts)LOL. I am excited for some fresh energy and ideas. I am already shuffling over materials to these ladies. The president-elect and I will be "doing lunch" soon to further the transition. I will still continue chairing the arts program that I have restarted and I have requested to be on the tech. committee next year. Since I will no longer have to be as neutral, I plan on giving tech. alot of support. I also want to branch out more in the community. By the way my real name is Tami. I appreciate all of your support and thoughts. You all have saved me alot of $$$$ in therapy.LOL For now I keep listening to the song "I want to soak up the sun, I want to tell everyone to LIGHTEN up, I want to soak up the sun". It helps to blair it loud in the vehicle with the windows rolled down and blowing bubble gum bubbles. LOL

I myself find myself not running for another board. I am burnt out and I just want to volunteer. I don't want to have to deal with those parents that just complain complain and complain. Over what other schools have compared to ours and blah, blah, blah. I have another 6 years to go to be in this school and I will want to serve on another future board. I have been President 3 years and secretary once for four consecutive years. I don't feel any remorse feelings or hurt. Just ready to get it over. I feel that PTO is a marriage between school and parents that they go hand in hand and the marriage ends when one is not communicating with the other. If parents want to complain then be part of the solution and not continue to harp on the problem. I feel the same way about staff, which thank goodness I haven't heard any complaints. I will continue to hold my chin up high when I go and visit the school because I know that I have done the best to my ability with what resources we have had and the great boards that have worked with me in the past. I hope that this coming years board all of the best of luck.

my name is not on the ballot for the may election......this is really bitter sweet for me but i know (depending on the president) i will still be around.

maybe i can put together that auction the school wants to do to raise cash for items our new building needs.....that should keep me mentally active (too much tellatubbies is not good for one!)

I was typing up the newsletter and wow it was strange not to be putting my name on the list of nominees.....I know I have the new baby and the boys PLUS my oldest gal but it just feels weird.

The gal running for President is the same one that nearly drove our group into the ground two years ago so I'm really worried about what kind of crud she's going to try and do this time but I realize I must walk away...just walk away!

On a fun note....a admin staffer at school wants me on the school board.....of course when I'm done with diapers! ;)

Like almost everyone else, I find that this year as prez has been hard but fulfilling in many ways. I accepted the nomination again, only because I couldn't bear the thought of handing over a year of organizing and putting new programs into effect only to see the next prez do away with them. I waffled a lot, but in the end, chose to run again. Thing is, I know I am going to get my butt kicked in next Monday's election to a nominee who is 'packing' the room. I am resigned to losing, but it sure puts a smile on my face to know that she isn't a 'worker bee' and will ultimately face the fact that the position of prez is a job and she will actually have to work! I am prepared for the fact that if she gets the position, that I will not be welcome to chair any committees or do anything more than watch the year go by. I am also prepared to pick up the ball and run with it, helping neighboring schools get their respective ducks in a row (I have been asked to help start up 4 neighboring elementary school PTVO's). So, that is where I now sit. One week from defeat, but looking at a whole new road with all new adventures. ;)
