Yes!! Love it and to be honest, we had a rough start but things are really looking better for the school!
We were able to buy our own building and did move 3 miles and what a huge difference it made! The new community was excited to have a new school, someone recycle (if you will) an old building for our school, and the fact that we are different from all the other schools. The other elementry school in the area did loose alot of students to our school but a friend told me it works out as her school is now not as over crowded as before.
Our charter school is different as the parents do not run the school. We are asked to serve on the school board (elections every two years) and to volunteer but nothing is manditory. Another charter in the area is manditory involment and the parents do run the school, that's just scary to me! Run a household and a school! No thanks!
We also require uniforms, the first in our district. Huge! This was mixed but with anything if you liked it we saw you next year, if not...bye. There were several factors that lead to the uniforms, the neighboring (before we moved) had a open campus which lead to disapline issues for our students (we are K-12); the district dress code was awful, so we stiffened ours so much uniforms were suggested; Columbine (we are 30-40 minutes from the school) and we wanted a better image that the other schools in the district.
I hope I answered a question or two, I do really like our school, though!
