Yeah, there might be a bump in the noggin or two, but with proper management, it will be nothing to worry about.

I would be more worried about the bumping of the candy cane down their throat or jabbing the roof of their mouth. Sharp objects in mouths, blindfolds...nuh huh...they don't mix for me. :(

Something my wife does with her class every year (kindergarten) is this little fun activity.
First, make sure to have enough large candy canes for every student. Call two kids up and give them a candy cane. Next, the put the candy canes in their mouths, with the hook part of the cane sticking out. Have the kids facing each other, a few feet apart. Next, either blindfold (very timely) or have them close their eyes, and they must try to find the other person, and hook their candy canes together.
Yeah, there might be a bump in the noggin or two, but with proper management, it will be nothing to worry about. It's pretty funny to watch, and the kids love it!
Hope it's not too late for you.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

I am also planning a class Christmas Party. We are having carmel apples and allowing the kids to dip the apple into different toppings (m & m's, chocolate chips, nuts, etc.) We are also having them make "reindeer food" which is basically a 1/4 cup oatmel, 1/4 cup sugar, and glitter. There is a cute poem that goes with it if you google it you can find it. This link also has a few other great ideas that the kids could do Christmas Games & Activities for Kindergarten & Elementary Kids It's more of activities rather than them making more crafts or food which in my sons class they have been doing all month.

Our Christmas parties are held in each classroom so space is a bit limited. For the younger kids, it's usually 4 or 5 stations of crafts plus refreshments and Christmas music being played. Parents help man each station, so you only have 4-6 kids at a time.

I always supply all the makings for Christmas cookies. I bake about 100 so each child can have 4 or 5 and bring all the icing and sprinkles. The kids have a blast making Christmas cookies to take home to their families. (For transport, I have a styrofoam paper plate with their name written on it holding the cookies and slip the whole thing flat into a gallon size reclosable storage bag.)

This activity is alway popular, and I'm doing it again next week for my 2nd and 4th graders. With paper covering the table and using mostly disposable supplies (throw away bowls, plastic knives, etc.), cleanup is really pretty easy.

Have fun!

I have played simple kid games with my classes and they have gone over big from K-2 grades..Simon says is a big hit--We never ask the k or 1st graders to sit down after they are eliminated...The 2nd grades we adultts get it started, then we call up each kid who wants to participate and give htem a chance to be Simon. we limit them to about 30 seconds or 1 minute each (or else the game would go on for about 1hr). We also played bingo, but before we started each child had to write the name of an animal down on a piece of a paper and instead of calling BINGO out they had to make the animal sound. Then we played a second game and they first had to pass the pieces of paper around to each other so they di not have hte one they started with. then when they won BINGO they had to make that anilmal sound. We also played simple thinking games. Such as i am thinking of something in this room that is red, each child would get 1 guess, when the kids needed another clue we would mark a strike mark on the board. then the next clue would come out same thing 1 guess per child, if another clue was needed i would get another strike mark. If i got 5 strike marks I won, if they got the answer before the 5 strike marks they won. You could even add in that you would make the sound of the animal they want before you begin if the kids win.
