Our school district is small. It consists of our elementary school and a combined midhigh and high school. Our elementary is pre-school thru 5th grade and we have less then 300 students. I don't know the numbers for 6-12 grades. I know we can get some of the items we need at reasonible prices at Walmart. We just thought it would be great if we could purchase everything we need through one source at a discounted rate. Thanks for the input.
You don't describe your situation. How large is your school district?
We can get excellent prices this sort of equipment by buying them through the school district. The added bonus is that we are buying products the district is committed to supporting.
Last year we bought a new sound system for the gymnasium. The district had a specialist that told our music teacher he could come in and measure our gym, he could spec out exactly what we needed, he could hand us a catalog opened to the page with the absolute best available deal, he could rewire the gym and install the system, he could test and balance the speakers, he could do EVERYTHING except BUY the thing. We provided the money.
In this part of the country, there are some small districts that have banded together for buying purposes. You might also ask about that.
Our PTO sent a teacher survey around to the teachers at the beginning of the school year.
So we got a lot of good ideas of what they need for the classrooms.
Many of the teachers need VCRs, and computer printers, one needs 8mm video cassettes for all Kindergarten students, they also requested headsets for the computer lab, a Boom Box, a Digital camera, CD cases, and 1
Duo Deck cassette player with high speed dubbing. This is definitely more then we can afford to spend right now. But does anyone have any leads on how to get these at wholesale costs or partial donations from a large electronics company? Any ideas appreciated Thanks
