Monday-Team up against drugs day, students wear clothing of their favorite sports team.

Tuesday - Wear Red Day - students wear red.

Wednesday - Give drugs a slip day - students may wear their slippers.

Thursday - Drugs and I don't mix day - wear mix-matched cloths.

Friday - Our Kids against durgs program donates team shirts then we parade around town and listen to a speaker from the County Supervisor's office and then a BBQ back at school.

All students that participate in these activities get some kind of prize (Principal has something unknown yet) We are a K-6 hope this helps.

MightyJo, check out www.redribbon.org

Thursday is traditionally Red Ribbon Tailgate at our school. Most years there are no classes on Friday for end of quarter, but we miss that by a week this year -- but the tailgate is still Thursday.

This is the second time in my six years that the KC Chiefs have had a Thursday night game that week (even if this year is it a side effect of 9/11).

The kids are all urged to wear their red, both for the week and for the team. We grill hotdogs. The "Just Say No" club usually brings in a Moonwalk as a fund raiser (no JSN this year, but that's a long story). We try to get the high school marching band or pep band to come play, and the cheerleaders to show up.

The last time there was a Thursday game, with no school on Friday, there were a number of groups of kids who got together to watch the game (yeah right, their parents watched the game while they played Nintendo in the basement, most likely).

Red Ribbon Week is about drug prevention/awareness.

This is the 2nd posting I've seen mentioning "Red Ribbon" week. Sorry to be dense, but what is it?

I am looking for some ideas for "Red Ribbon Week" which is Oct. 22-26. So far we have a speaker Monday, Tuesday we are passing out zipper pulls (from positive promotions) and giving red twizzlers Wed. We have a little money to spend but not much time. What are you doing at your school? We are K-8. I would like to include the older kids in some activity. We seem to focus on the younger grades. Thanks.
