This year we started the year off with an idea we found on this site. The Baby Ruth candy bar "cause sometimes you just want to run home". We placed a candy bar with a note attached in school colors in every mail box. Teachers and All Staff Members. For several years now we have assisted the teachers with the cost of decorating, bulletin boards, special needs in the class room, etc. The teacher provides our treasurer with receipts and they are reimbursed up to $50 each school year. The teachers are very appreciative.
Our elementary school has a publicity committee that tries to attend special events so they can take photos for their bulletin board. At our middle school, the PTA bought several digital cameras that are kept in the school library. Staff checks out the cameras as they need them. It's fun to see pictures of the children - and it's very current.
This year we gave the teachers all brand new oscillating fans for the classrooms. This will not just benefit the teachers, but the children will appreciate it too! We had our Teacher's Back To School Lunch last Thursday and everyone said how wonderful the fans were. ( We had set them up one day last week, put a big bow on each one and attached a nice note card.) We felt this was money well spent.
I was wondering if any of you give your teachers a back to school gift. Last year we gave them a "care" package with band aids, tylenol, gum, etc... it wasn't very expensive. This year the new board wants to reimburse each teacher $50.00 for class room supplies not covered by the Board of Ed. Also another idea that was thrown around was giving each teacher a throw away camera for our publicity department. I am undecided on this and was wonder what everyone else does?
Thanks for any input
