I DON'T THINK I HAVE YET SEEN A GOOD BUSSING POLICY. EVERY THING LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER, BUT REAL WORLD IS SOOOO DIFFERENT. KIDS FEEL UNSUPERVISED, WHICH THEY ARE, AND DO PRETTY MUCH WHAT THEY WANT. DRIVERS HAVE A JOB, WHICH IS DRIVE THE BUS, WHICH THEY DO, AND THE KIDS DO PRETTY MUCH WHAT THEY WANT. IT IS A TINDER BOX, AND ALTHOUGH I SO NOT THINK IT WILL COME TO GUNS IT WILL NEVER BE A SAFE, 'NICE' ENVIROMANT FOR OUR KIDS. MY ONLY ADVICE IS TO PUT A MONITOR ON EVERY BUS,~~~~~ NOW WHAT PTO COULD DO THAT??
I am a concerned parent that is new to all this. I want to make sure my child is receiving the best transportation like any parent. I read and reviewed the school bus policy. The rules are comprehendible. I know that each bus driver is unique in his or her own way. I know that people have hot buttons. I know that if the bus driver does take action is based on her own common sense and following the policies. What if there are other issues and concerns that are their word against our children.
Incident #1. A bus driver runs over a dog. How should she handle it? Should every bus driver have his or her own way in handling that situation?
#2 A incident happened on the bus. She didn't witness it but assumes it is so and so. Is it labeling, targeting. How should she handle it?
#3 A child is issued a slip. What can the parent and student do if it wasn't just cause. There is only the bus coordinator and someone higher than them. They all agree they stand behind the bus driver's word. Where are the student's rights? I don't feel there is any justice.
#4 Should the bus driver be setting a good example on problem solving or handle a situation by showing right from wrong.
There are many more concerns. I am concerned that if the bus driver is not as tolerable or know the correct way to handle the situation an incident like the Columbine high could happen. Policies are being implemented or changed almost all the time. I haven't seen anything changed about these issues. If there are any answers or know of information that would help me. Please direct me.
