I'm surprized that no one has posted to this yet! Spike, our PTO was in the same boat. What we did was a search(Yahoo etc.) for bylaws. This gave us MANY web pages for schools and some businesses also. We checked them all out and then used what seemed appropriate for our needs.We decided to only cover the basics and not constrain future PTOs with micromanaged items.Hopefully, by now, you've probably figured some of this out and you have a lot of support from the other parents and the teachers. One thing we did that may help is to include a teacher on the board. That way, it's not a "them" and "us" proposition. Good luck and smooth sailing.

i haavae just acquired being president of a pto. the organization has had no structure of any kind. i am in desperate need of bylaws, mission statements/statements of purpose and officer descriptions.
