mamapres,
I know what you are going through. We have several officers that want to run everything and their way is right. Wrong. Another lady and I are starting to take more charge this year instead of sitting back and letting them run the PTO.
I agree with jj. We also go over the minutes from the previous meeting at the start of our next meeting. All officers get a copy as well. I know we sound backwards and we are, but we try to get along for the sake of our school and the organization.
Kaylee, thanks for your insight. I think we need to have a section to state that anyone not performing their duties related to the position that they were elected can be voted out and replaced by the executive committee. Thank you.
At our meetings, almost the first order of business is to approve the minutes from the previous meetings. Usually it's minor things, like a couple people's names missing from those attending. But we certainly wouldn't approve the minutes without corrections, especicially if they were major.
Do you have a copy of the DRAFT minutes for everyone at the meeting? Make your own penciled changes on your copy as to what the group wants changed. You could do it from the perspective of running the meeting, handling it yourself so that you can read it back for a vote. Then make a copy at the end of the meeting so she can make the changes. Keep your copy so you know what she has changed.
I have a secretary who is creating her own minutes for our meetings. They are incorrect.
She won't produce the tape that she used to record the meeting in question.
Our by-laws say "all officers will represent our school in a respectable and professional manner."
She is very rude to our Executive Committee members. Help! These are the parents who give all us hard working volunteers a bad wrap.
It's not easy to get volunteers and I want to keep the one's I have!!!They are the lifeblood of our school.
