Next week, I am helping to facilitate a meeting between PTOs, PTAs, and Parent Councils in our local area, about 10 schools (see flyer at
www.smore.com/11x42).
The purpose of this meeting is to open lines of communication between active parents at neighborhood schools in our area. Traditionally we have not had much interaction despite the fact we are working on many common goals and could share our resources effectively between us. The format will be several progressive rounds of conversation (approximately 10 minutes each) about fundraising, volunteerism, social events, staff appreciation, greening our school, and communication. I think it will be great to find out how other teams of parents are working together.
Has anyone else tried getting something like this going? What tips and tricks could you share to help me during these initial phases of group involvement?
