Last year my sons' class filled a flower pot with hand prints. The room mom sent home white cards and asked us to use paint to create 2 hand prints. She mounted them all on tongue depressers and into a flower pot. It made a beautiful bouquet:) This was given to the teacher. If it's for a room parent you could each student put a thumb print all over a coffee mug from a clay shop and have it glazed. An adult could write, "Thank You...." etc on the side.
How about a handprint wreath? Have kids trace/cut handprints in spring colors, form a wreath, decorate with "Thank You" and spring decorations. Older kids could write on their handprints, too.
For the last two years, at the end of the school year, we have given a gift for the room parent of each classroom. The twist with this gift is that it is from the entire class and all students got to be involved in creating it.
The first year we did a picture - I printed the words "Thank You" on a piece of cardstock then each student made one cute thumb print art on the page. They were adorable and everyone loved them! Last year we took pictures of the students in each class laying on the ground and all forming the words "Thank You" with their bodies and printed them on to a card. This turned out to be a lot more work than I planned on (lots of photoshop work because I had to take multiple shots to get all the kids in) but they did turn out cute too, though I always felt like they could have been better with more time.
I am trying to get a head start on planning for this years gift and I am stuck - any ideas you could come up with would be great.
Again, this should be something that all students get to be involved in - and be very inexpensive. Plus since we have 18 classrooms - not too time consuming
