Our school use a system call listsrve (it sends out email to parent that has sign up for instant msg) to keep the partents in loop on volunteer opportunities, school news and fund-raising information. I did get some help from my co-workers and sign them up as school volunteers. Also, my child teacher each week includes a section on volunteering and what to do in her weekly newsletter. I did have a great turn out response to a media center bookfair event--i was pleased . Has any tried a meet and greet with your volunteer coordinator? or Q and A session.

we out out a survey that asks parents to be involved and check off event that interested them or that they could help at--- we got a great response and it gave a nice list of contacts to call upon as needed.
